Signs and symptoms

  • Degeneration of anterior horn cells
  • Gait disturbance
  • Muscle spasm
  • Areflexia
  • Fasciculations
  • Gliosis
  • Decreased number of peripheral myelinated nerve fibers
  • Mildly elevated creatine kinase
  • Axonal degeneration
  • Peripheral neuropathy
