Dandy-Walker syndrome

A cerebellar disease that is characterized by hypoplasia and upward rotation of the cerebellar vermis and cystic dilation of the fourth ventricle.

Signs and symptoms

  • Cranial nerve paralysis
  • Truncal ataxia
  • Nystagmus
  • Dilated fourth ventricle
  • Hydrocephalus
  • Thinning and bulging of the posterior fossa bones
  • Posterior fossa cyst at the fourth ventricle
  • Elevated imprint of the transverse sinuses
  • Partial absence of cerebellar vermis
  • Agenesis of cerebellar vermis
