mitral valve prolapse

A mitral valve disease where one or both of the cusps of the mitral valve bulge or collapse backward in the left atrium during systole.

Signs and symptoms

• Disproportionate tall stature
• Striae distensae
• Reversed usual vertebral column curves
• Pectus excavatum
• High, narrow palate
• High palate
• Mitral regurgitation
