occult macular dystrophy

A macular degeneration that is characterized by a central cone dysfunction leading to a loss of vision with a normal fundus and normal fluorescein angiography findings.

Signs and symptoms

• Macular dystrophy
• Slow decrease in visual acuity
• Abnormal multifocal electroretinogram
• Abnormal full-field electroretinogram
• Abnormal fundus fluorescein angiography
