retinitis pigmentosa

A retinal degeneration characterized by the gradual deterioration of the photoreceptors or the retinal pigment epithelium of the retina leading to progressive sight loss.

Signs and symptoms

• Rod-cone dystrophy
• Constriction of peripheral visual field
• Nyctalopia
• Abnormal fundus pigmentation
